What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an important part of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and is used to treat illness, prevent disease and improve total wellness. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized acupuncture suitable for the treatment of many disorders including physical, psychological, and emotional problems. Acupuncture has always been embraced throughout the world because of its effectiveness.

How Does Acupuncture Work?

In traditional Chinese medicine, we recognize that a balance of qi (energy) is essential to health and harmony in the body. When this qi (energy) is blocked or stagnated in one way or another, the body's lines of communication (meridians) are weakened and disease or pain results. Consequently, unblocking this stagnation allows the flow of energy to become restored and the body can heal itself and regain the balance.

Acupuncture needles are placed in very specific intramuscularly locations, they stimulate the immune system, affects the circulation, blood pressure, the rhythm and stroke volume of the heart, secretion of gastric acid, and the production of red and white blood cells. It also stimulates the release of a variety of hormones that help the body to respond to injury and stress.

Safety

Out of many million treatments in the past decades, very few accidents were reported. Both state and federal medical agencies have established strict regulations and procedures for needle sterilization. The Chinese Acupuncture Wellness Center only utilizes single-use disposable needles.
